There are 2 ways to show coaches/managers on rosters:
- Assign them to the squad as coach/manager AND set the flag to show on the roster.
- Add them as squad members, like you do other squad members.
The first option is straightforward, and all they need is a User Account. In other words, a registration is not required for this (although if they do go through a registration, they will create a user account as well).
You are probably assigning them to the squads anyway so they can pick up the additional capabilities given to the designated squad roles. There are 3 elevated squad roles with potentially different capabilities and access to participant profile data of the squad members.
If you take the first option, the information displayed for them on the roster all comes from their User Account, and is limited to name, email address, phone number, and picture. An administrator or the user him/herself will have to load a picture to their Account Settings.
The second option requires a couple more steps, but also provides a richer amount of data to display about your coaches and managers on the roster.
To have them appear in a separate group from the regular participants (e.g., the players), do the following on the squad definition
- Create a registration for coaches and managers to go through, including any fields you'd like to have appear on their roster profiles.
- Set the main participant type to be that of the regular roster members (e.g., Player).
- Enable the Show Others on Roster checkbox.
- Disable the Show on Roster flags for the other, named roles (e.g., Manager, Coach, Assistant Coach, etc.). Otherwise they will show up twice.
- Add them as Roster Members like you add other participants.
With this option, their roster information comes from their participant profile, including their pictures. Since you would show participant profile information, you can have a richer profile shown, like coaching experience, playing experience, etc.
