SquadFusion provides multiple ways to control which events appear to different users in different contexts. This allows you to ensure you are not overwhelming everyone with lots of events and also to keep some events private, and available only to the squads on the events, or even only to specific roles like coaches.
These settings are set by event type, so you can have different settings for games and tournaments than you do for practices or organization-wide events.
To create new event types and update the settings for existing event types, go to the Events Types page in the Scheduling menu.
By default, organization events only appear on the organization schedule. If you would like to have those events show up on every squad's schedule, you can set it to be included on them.
By default, squad events only appear for the squads on the events. If you want to include them on the organization schedule, you can set the event type to be included on it.
Every squad gets a squad overview page. Part of that overview page are the next 3 events for the squad. Some organizations make the squad overview public (so people can get general information about the squads). But they don't want the public to see all the upcoming events. For instance, they might want people to see the upcoming games, but not practices. So, there is a setting for the squad event types about whether they should be included on the squad overview.
To control which roles can add, edit, and view different types of events, check the appropriate boxes in the Roles section.
If the View checkbox is off for an event type, it means people in that role will not be able to view any events of that type. However, some of those roles have a context. For instance, you can make a squad event type viewable only to squad members (and other roles on the squad).
Using the Practice example above, if you do not allow any role beneath squad member to view it, but you do allow squad members to view it, that results in people being able to see Practices for their squad(s), but not for anyone else's.
It works similar for the other roles like coach and manager, as well as other event type privileges like Can Edit and Can Add. For example:
- Practice has Can Add off for all roles
- It has Can Edit on down to Assistant Coach and off for all roles beneath
That means only administrators can add Practice events. But coaches, managers, assistant coaches (or whatever those roles are called at your organization) can edit existing practices for their squads only.
